| Methodology |
The study is a randomised clinical trial (RCT) with GP surgeries as the unit of randomisation. Patients will be screened in GP waiting rooms by hand-held computer. Of those identified as problem drinkers, half will receive a computer based brief intervention. Patients will be asked questions about their satisfaction with the screening programme and the extent to which they use the internet. The study began in the second half of 2001 and is due for completion in July, 2005. |
